Marcel Zwietering, Roger Cook and Bob Buchanan received awards at IAFP 2024

Congratulations to all three ICMSF colleagues that were recognised for their achievements at this year’s IAFP annual meeting.

ICMSF chairman Marcel Zwietering received the Frozen Food Foundation Freezing Research Award; a recognition for preeminence and outstanding contributions in research that impacts food safety attributes of freezing.

ICMSF member Roger Cook was installed as an IAFP Fellow in recognition of his distinguished contributions to the organisation over an extended period.

Emeritus ICMSF member Bob Buchanan was the first recipient of the Journal of Food Protection Exceptional Reviewer Award.

ICMSF was well represented at the IAFP annual meeting this year, with the following Commission and Latin American Sub-commission members actively engaging in Committees, PDGs, symposia and marketplace sessions: Michal Batz, Michelle Danyluk, John Donaghy, Darrell Donahue, Jeffrey Farber, Leon Gorris, Bobby Krishna, Katie Swanson, Anett Winkler, Marcel Zwietering (Commission); Francisco Garces-Vega, Janeth Luna, and Montserrat Hernandez Iturriaga (LAS).

Background information

Each year, the International Association for Food Protection (IAFP) hosts an Annual Meeting, providing attendees with information on current and emerging food safety issues, the latest science, innovative solutions to new and recurring problems, and the opportunity to network with thousands of food safety professionals from around the globe. Held in various locations throughout North America, this meeting has grown over the years to become the leading food safety conference worldwide. IAFP 2024 was held in Long Beach, California, USA.
