Dr Dewanti-Hariyadi is a Professor in Food Microbiology at the Department of Food Science and Technology and a senior scientist of the Southeast Asian Food and Agriculture Science and Technology (SEAFAST) Center, IPB University (previously: Bogor Agricultural University), Indonesia. Her research interest includes characterisation and survival mechanisms of bacterial pathogens (Bacillus cereus, Cronobacter spp., Salmonella) in foods or food contact surfaces. She is engaged in risk assessment activities in Indonesia and South East Asia, serving as the chair of the Expert Panel for Salmonella in Poultry initiated by Indonesia Risk Assessment Center (2017-2018) and trainer for Microbiological Risk Assessment Workshop by the Asian Risk Assessment Center (2022). She also serves as a resource person for the development of microbiological criteria of fresh foods of animal origin (2021-now) and processed foods (2013-now) established by the relevant Food Safety Authorities in Indonesia. In the past 25 years, she has been training Food Safety and HACCP for food industries. Professor Dewanti-Hariyadi earned her PhD in Food Microbiology with a minor in Bacteriology from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, USA in 1995. In 2013 Ratih was conferred with a Travel Award for Food Safety Professional in a Developing Country from the International Association for Food Protection (IAFP) and was appointed as fellow of the International Academy of Food Science and Technology (IAFoST) in 2022.
