Leon Gorris awarded the IAFP Europe Food Safety Award

Congratulations to Dr Leon Gorris, who received the Europe Food Safety Award during IAFP’s European Symposium on Food Safety in Geneva, Switzerland, 30 April–2 May 2024.
New in 2024, the Europe Food Safety Award recognises an active IAFP Member from Europe for dedicated and exceptional contributions to the profession of food safety in Europe.
Leon is a food safety professional based in Nijmegen, Netherlands, whose career has been dedicated to food safety research and food safety management. He was most recently employed with Unilever for 21 years and held a special professorship in food safety microbiology at Wageningen University before establishing Food Safety Futures, a consulting firm working for international clients on food safety risk assessment, risk management, and capability building.
Background information
Since 2005, IAFP’s European Symposium has been shaping the future of food safety by providing a forum for the exchange of ideas with colleagues from across Europe working in industry, government, and academia. The Symposium is an excellent forum to gain knowledge about the latest developments and techniques in food science and safety. The symposium was held from 30 April to 2 May 2024 in Geneva, Switzerland.
